Sharmie’s Place Family Day Care provides high quality family based care to families. I offer affordable quality child care, not only for work related care but for any reason, particularly for those families without local support networks. I believe in the rights of all families to have access to a quality home based child care service which is responsive and respectful, meeting the needs of each individual family and child as best I can.
I have a strong commitment and responsibility not only to the development of the child, but also the personal and professional development of Family Day Care Educators and Coordination unit staff.

Hi my name is Carmen Goonewardena
I started learning Montessori in Sri Lanka and graduated with honours. I then became a Montessori teacher rising up to be the director of a large school of eighty four children. When I migrated to Australia, I did my Certificate III followed by my Diploma in Children’s Services. I have been doing Family Day Care since 1988. I am also a regional award winning educator winning the Excellence in FDC award for Northside FDC in 2012. This was the very first lot of awards that went out to educators by Family Day Care Australia, where parents nominate their educator.
Since then I scaffold myself to keep improving my care for the children with a plethora of play based learning as well as intentional teaching. Children are always eager to come and experience the “Happy atmosphere” with many a tender loving care given. I have a “Code of Ethics” where the children’s privacy and welfare are paramount, which I uphold as the parents send their children to me with trust and faith shown. I would like for you to meet and greet with me and get to know me.
